Highlight // Red Eclipse Photography

High Fashion has been in vogue throughout the international fashion scene for a number of years and its finally hit Australia. With Melbourne and Sydney fashion already resembling this global style, it seems that Brisbane is hot on their stiletto heels. But why, we ask, has Brisbane been struggling to compete? Is it a smaller market? A lack of talent? We think not! Brisbane boasts internationally renowned designers as well as talented newcomers ready to climb the national and international fashion ladder. Brisbane is a brewing pool of talented fashion professionals, from designers to photographers.

Ready to snap up Brisbane’s progress is a talented duo of photographers, Jacquie Green and Daniel Sangermani of Red Eclipse Photography. This pair are on a mission to help Brisbane get up to speed with the rest of the fashion world through their creativity and innovative visions for beauty and fashion photography. This high fashion-oriented style of photography has recently gained a wide audience, reputation and recognition in Melbourne and Sydney and its time for Brisbane to jump on the bandwagon!

In a fairytale story, Jacquie and Daniel met in 2007 at the Mt Coot-tha Lunar Eclipse (hence 'Red Eclipse Photography'...romantic isn't it) sparking an instant connection which led to the opening of their photographic studio early last year.

The pair are now on the up and up, impressing industry heavyweights at their own 'A Night of Fashion' held at the Alhambra Lounge in 2008, while shoots in Amsterdam in December did wonders for their international reputation. In 2009 Red Eclipse has been capturing events wherever fashion was at it best as well building successful relationships with Brisbane’s best modeling agencies, most renowned designers and other fashion professionals.

So keep an eye out, if you notice some changes in Brisbane's photography scene in the coming years, it'd be a safe bet to assume the Red Eclipse team was part of it.

I just had a look at the red eclipse photography website, it's ok but I would hardly talk them up to this extent. There are a couple of great fashion photographers (I can think of 3) in Queensland but you may not have heard of them since they don't promote themselves with this kind of ego and enthusiasm. The biggest problem with the QLD fashion scene is undeserved egos and BS which gives us the reputation of cowboys living in a banana republic. I get the distinct impression the Red Eclipse people just finished QCA last year and still have the "take the world by storm" attitude that most of the students seem to have, it usually lasts about 1 year before reality sets in.
