Julia-Rose Lewis from The Moment Group // {Visual Art Workshop} {Portraits}

Yesterday, I attended an Eidos Institute luncheon which hosted the depiuty Prime Minister, Julia Gillard, as the guest speaker.  One of the bloggers at the event commented about the business crowd there but believe it or not, I somehow found myself sitting between two very creative people!  One is involved with Visible Ink, a great resource for young people, and the other travelled in the US and attended a creative industries conference in Philadelphia.

Anyway, one of attendees has a friend who is involved as an artist for 2high Festival and he got me in touch with Julia-Rose Lewis from The Moment Group!

How did you get involved with 2high Festival?

I've been involved with 2high for several years as a performer. Originally I got involved when I was asked to be part of a show that had already been accepted into the festival. It's a great atmosphere so it's the sort of arts festival atmosphere you want to come back to.

What role do you play as part of the creative team?

This year I worked as a co-developer of a project entitled 'Portraits', originally envisaged by Kimberly Twiner who then asked me to come on board the project. It is a visual art workshop that involves audience members having their portraits done by Students from Aspley Special School. We have been working with them for some time now and it's been a wonderful process for the students and us. Can't wait to see how we go on the night.

What can audiences expect when they experience your work?

A wonderful interaction with someone they might not have met otherwise, a new experience, a new friend.

How did 2high Festival help in your professional development of being an artist practitioner?

Its a great place to meet new people, other artists and showcase your work, ideas and concepts.

Thanks Julia!
